Bolton Wanderers returned from the international break different from the way they entered it, losing. The Whites fell to a 2-1 defeat to Stoke City at home as they failed to capitalise on opportunities, with the Potters quality guiding them to all three points.

Wanderers took the initiative to begin with, but did not take their chances. As Stoke went down to ten men, the same applied, with Mark Robins men taking the lead via a superb finish from Lamine Cisse.

The second-half stayed in much of the same fashion. Bolton attacking well, but failing to finish as Stoke broke forward to create their opportunities.
