Bolton Wanderers return to Championship action, hosting Stoke City on Saturday, a team intertwined with the club over the years.

The history between the two club goes back a long way, with one of the largest disasters in English football happening with both Bolton and Stoke on the Burnden Park pitch. Both sides will forever remember that day, and have gone on to beat consistently over the years.

In recent times it has been some bad luck for Wanderers when it comes to the Potters, especially from 2011 to 2012. The side delivered some bad luck to the Whites in the FA Cup before a dubious game in the following season saw the team relegated from the Premier League and has since yet to return.

A lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan, this club is the reason I began my journalism career. Since sitting in the stands as a kid over 20 years ago, I have gone on to work for the likes of the BBC and The Telegraph before everything led me back to here, to the football club I love.
