Bolton Wanderers are back. The Whites announced their return to the Championship, beating Preston North End, 2-1.
In front of a sold out home crowd, the first since 2011, Bolton came out of the blocks ready to fight. John McAtee came in to take the role of Ruben Rodrigues, Max Conway started at left-back as Akin Famewo slipped in to play centrally and Ethan Erhahon partnered Josh Sheehan in midfield. All three changes would put on some showing.
Steven Schumacher's team were not going to mess about, on the front foot from minute one. As if the atmosphere didn't need any help, it got all it ever wanted with Sam Dalby putting the Whites ahead after Preston's Daniel Iverson parried McAtee's volley.
