Making a house a home: Turning the Toughsheet into it's synonym

Bolton Wanderers may have made a solid start to life in the Championship, but have failed to recreate their fortress like home. Record attendances and a team taking on the challenge may need that one extra push at the Toughsheet, and it might be down to us to find it.

Home, it's where the heart is. It's where we go every other Saturday or Tuesday. It's the cold, plastic seat we sit in next to people we've known for years, even if we don't know their last name. It's the 'Useless' chant at every refereeing decision and the sporadic 'One and only wanderers' every 10-15 minutes.

For us, it's the pilgrimage of hope we make weekly. For other the team that has to come visit, it's hell, or it should be.

Last season, it was just that. On the road to promotion, Bolton Wanderers lost just two home games all season. A different context of course, but one that displays the force a home stand can be.

A lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan, this club is the reason I began my journalism career. Since sitting in the stands as a kid over 20 years ago, I have gone on to work for the likes of the BBC and The Telegraph before everything led me back to here, to the football club I love.
