"I am delighted": Steven Schumacher lauds winning in a different way as Bolton Wanderers prove they can do the hard yards in 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic

Bolton Wanderers found out that they could win whilst not playing their best as they secured three points at The Valley with a 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic.
Sam Dalby's first-half goal saw Steven Schumacher's side use one of their three shots on target to hold on for a less-than-attractive victory.
On occasion, this has been the type of game that Bolton either lose, or don't take their chances to secure the win. Instead, Wanderers showed they were ready to do what it takes to find points in the Championship, however they have to play.
Schumacher was very happy to see his team display qualities they haven't shown enough this season.

A lifelong Bolton Wanderers fan, this club is the reason I began my journalism career. Since sitting in the stands as a kid over 20 years ago, I have gone on to work for the likes of the BBC and The Telegraph before everything led me back to here, to the football club I love.
