Bolton Wanderers are looking to build on their two positive results on the road, as the Whites return home to host promotion-pushing Middlesbrough.

Steven Schumacher's team will not be complaining at getting four points from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton but will know the challenges do not stop. Kim Hellberg's Boro have won two of there last five and are unbeaten over the period. They will head to Bolton expecting to leave with three points, something Wanderers will hope to stop.

Schumacher will want his team to continue their positive form but will do so without two players.

Jayden Nelson was among a group of first-team players who featured for Julian Darby's U21 side against Wigan Athletic earlier in the week.

John McAtee, Ryan Hardie and David Watson all found the net in the game and came out unscathed. Nelson however, did not. The Canadian winger was seen limping back to the dugout on crutches after being pulled out of the game.

Schumacher has now confirmed that the player will miss up to six weeks.

“Jayden Nelson pulled out of the Under-21s game unfortunately on Tuesday against Wigan with a groin stain, so he's going to be out for a few weeks, probably six weeks, which is really disappointing for him."

Nelson is not the only player who will miss Friday's game with Middlesbrough.

Chris Forino, who has been out with a groin injury since before the international break, will continue to miss out on the matchday squad.

However, the defender has completed a full week of training for the first time in a month but Bolton will continue to be careful with him as they look to get him back on the pitch at full fitness.

“Chris Forino has got through training this week which is really pleasing. I don't think he's going to be involved in the squad because we want him to play some minutes next week. It's been six or seven weeks since he's played. Apart from that, we're full strength.” Said Schumacher.

Luca Stephenson, who returned from injury to play the full 90 minutes last weekend, will be good to go as there has been no flair up to his original thigh injury.

The task ahead is a big one, with Boro sitting at the right end of the table. Despite this, Schumacher knows his team will go into like they always do, full of confidence and ready for what's ahead.

“I think it's clear to see that we have enjoyed it, we've enjoyed the challenge, we've enjoyed the performances, the match-ups we're coming up against.

“If we stick together, they can compete and get results if we play to our capability. So we want that to continue for as long as we can and keep that confidence growing.”

Middlesbrough to be without two for Friday night

For the opposition, Hellberg's team will be without two as they travel to Bolton on Friday night.

Forward David Strelec is closing in on a first-team return, but is yet to complete a full training session despite running on grass this week. Boro would like to have him back in the next few weeks, but he will not be troubling Wanderers this week.

Alfie Jones, who has not played for a month, will remain side-lined for the next two weeks at least. Jones is yet to train and whilst his recovery goes on, he will not be in a match day squad for some time yet.

Elsewhere, Middlesbrough are at full strength and expected to select their stars from the off. Hellberg had chosen to rest a few against Cardiff City. As the side went 2-0 down, those players such as Will Lankshear came on. The Boro boss is planning to start those this week.

Amario Cozier-Duberry is good to go for his return to Bolton.
