Opposition Camp: What to expect from Millwall - With Alex Grace

Millwall, tipped as promotion hopefuls, started the season well, but have now suffered back-to-back defeats with rising injury concerns that could see Alex Neil's side without as much as 13 first-team players on Saturday.

To get the lowdown on what to expect from the Lions, we spoke to Alex Grace, Freelance Journalist, host of That Millwall Podcast and Founder of The Millwall Standard.

Millwall were tipped to be amongst the promotion candidates this season but have now suffered back-to-back heavy defeats. Performance wise, what’s gone wrong?

"The Lions started the season so well. Back to back wins over both Bristol City and Norwich at ease everyone got quite excited.

"The last two have not been great. Southampton was a disaster, poor goals conceded and a really below par performance, team seemed to crumble after conceding. In fairness Southampton’s front three looked very, very good on that occasion.

"Wrexham saw further injuries which meant a change in system and it just didn’t work, they didn’t look like scoring and after Wrexham took the lead there was only really one winner in that one."

What’s the expectation from Millwall fans this season?

"After such a successful season last year, the play-offs is the expectation once again. The team is certainly good enough and when they are all fit the team is one of the strongest in the league. Millwall on their day can beat anyone, there is no reason they should not be looking at a place in the top eight."

The injury luck is out the window for Millwall at present, do you think they’ll have enough to turn things around when Bolton come to The Den?

"Injuries are a complete nightmare. At the time of writing the Lions are currently without 13 players. No wise players were available for the Wrexham game hence the change of system.

"Casper De Norre and Josh Coburn were both forced off on Wednesday, Jenson Metcalfe and Zak Lovelace both had to have treatment while Camiel Neghli was not fit enough to play according to Alex Neil despite him having to come on.

"Kyrell Lisbie and Tairyk Arconte could well be back to face Bolton tomorrow as both were not risked against Wrexham."

Who’s the player in the Millwall side that Bolton fans should be most wary of?

"If he plays against Bolton, I would say Arconte is the danger man."

Finally, what's your score prediction for Saturday's game?

"With so many players out injured I think it’s so hard to predict but, I think they can get grind out a 1-1 draw."
