Team News: Bolton Wanderers remain short changed as they head to Charlton Athletic

Bolton Wanderers hit the road looking for points once again but will be without a number of players for their two game away trip. The Whites have lost their last two games, conceding a combined eight goals in the time, something they have to put right this week.

Bolton Wanderers will be hoping their better away form can help them hit back after two straight home defeats.

Steven Schumacher's team are nursing a number of injuries as they head to Charlton Athletic, the first of two Championship games on the road, and two games in four days.

Unfortunately for Wanderers, they will have to take on the Addicks without a number of players, including some that have been incredibly important to the team so far.

Captain Eoin Toal remains out, and will have a scan this week to determine the severity of the injury. What had looked like a knock to the ankle, could no be something worse for the defender. Toal had reported improvement over the weekend, but the swelling has not reduced enough to where the medical team believe it is just a simple injury.

Gavin Bazunu, who was a late call to leave out on Saturday, remains out with a thigh injury meaning that Jack Bonham will keep his place in the Bolton net.

Elsewhere Ethan Erahon, John McAtee, Jayden Nelson and Ryan Hardie all remain out.

"Everyone who was unavailable at the weekend is still unavailable." Said Schumacher.

“Eoin Toal has gone for a scan this afternoon on his ankle. He says it does feel a bit better today than it did over the weekend, so we’ll wait to see how that is. But there were no new injuries from Saturday's game, which is pleasing.

“Ruben Rodrigues landed awkwardly on his arm, so he had a bit of a sore shoulder, but he's fine, he's trained today, so hopefully that's no issue.

“Chris (Forino) got through the session as well today, obviously he had to come off with cramp but he seems okay now. And otherwise it’s all as you were.”

Chris Forino and Ben Davies, who both left the pitch with muscle fatigue in the loss to Bristol City, are both fit to play and will be in the travelling squad tomorrow.

Despite some calls to change styles as Bolton head into a run of playing two games below them, Schumacher plans to attack both fixtures in the same way, despite Wanderers current injuries.

“Now, I know that we haven't got all of the wins, and we've been punished sometimes, and we've had points in the bag and then it's gone in the last minute, like Sheffield United and on Saturday against Bristol City.

“But that's what this league can do to you. It is punishing, and it's something that you've just got to get over quickly because before you know it, there's another game and you can't dwell on it for too long. But I said to the players, stick with it, keep believing, because you're just doing loads of things well.

“And for large periods of that game on Saturday, like I said to you right after the game, we looked like the team who had been operating at this level of football for years.”
